Excellent blog today from Kris Vallotton.
I small portion quoted from God is Good by Pastor Bill Johnson. This book is full of revelation and insight into the present day church. I highly recommend getting a copy to study with your bible right next to it. Or use it for a small group study.
Amos 9:11-12 – “In that day I will raise up the fallen booth of David, and wall up its breaches; I will also raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old; that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by name,” declares the LORD who does this.
The prophet Amos declared in the last days there would be a rebuilding of this tabernacle of David. The time of fulfillment of this word would be when the Gentiles were added to what God was doing on earth – they too, would become His people . After the Great Commission given to the Church by Jesus to “go into the world” (Matt. 28:19), followed by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that would help them be effective (see Acts 2), Gentiles began to be added to the Church. It became so controversial that the leaders of the church called a meeting in Jerusalem (see Acts 15) . The conclusion of this gathering of apostolic leaders was the inclusion of Gentiles to the faith was in fact from God. They were to be careful not to burden them with the requirements of the Law that they themselves could not keep. The Old Testament Scripture they used to support this idea was the Amos 9:11-12. ( quoted from God is Good by Bill Johnson page 81)
Did you know that God never intended the gifts of the Spirit to be confined to the four walls of the Church? Most of the miracles in the Bible took place off the holy highway in the rugged backwoods of the marketplace!
Have you learned how to carry God’s power and authority into the world? If we believers become combative instead of honorably confronting, we’ll reduce our influence to the small pond of the church and render ourselves powerless in the ocean of humanity. We must carry God’s authority into the lives of people and nations through invitation, not through intrusion or invasion. None of the miracles of Jesus were given as a public relations move. They all came out of His compassion for people, not to satisfy the need of onlookers for supernatural entertainment.

I received this book by Pastor Bill Johnson for Christmas from my daughter and son in law. Wow do they know me! I had mentioned wanting to purchase this so they saved me some money. Thank you! This book so far has been a huge blessing and so true to God’s word. I would encourage anyone to get a copy and prayerfully read it. The theme is how good God actually is and it will probably challenge some of your beliefs or paradigms. Below is excerpt from page 40 that just blew me away!
Tragically, many forgeries are accepted by believers day after day and then sold to others in the Christian marketplace as authentic revelations of the will of God. They in turn distort the revealed will of God throughout the scriptures, perverting our sense of what He is like. The biggest forgery of all might be teaching that Jesus no longer heals people from sickness and delivers them from torment. Simple examination of Scripture proves that such a concept is a devilish misrepresentation of the One who gave Himself to reveal the Father and redeem humanity. Many good people believe such lies. They must be treated with kindness – they were poisoned with a lie. But equally true that the lies they promote must be exposed as forgeries. What causes me the most grief is that this way of thinking misrepresents the nature of God. It hurts our approach to life, seriously damaging our ability to represent Him as good. Perhaps it’s these forgeries that have been marketed for decades by well-meaning believers that have contributed to the single greatest vacuum in humans consciousness – the knowledge of the goodness of God. – Bill Johnson Page 40 of God is Good
I confess that this was me for years and that I promoted a pious self righteous faith that just took me back to a works based system of religion. This book affirms through scripture my identity in Christ and that I no longer have live under a system of legalistic tradition based religion. What freedom this is once you realize the lie ! My wife Connie calls this shaking off the “Fundy dust” (nick name for fundamentalism). Again I highly recommend this book to any Christian who has ever questioned or doubted the goodness of God. Be honest we all have!
It is no secret that I love the new Passion Translation that Brian Simmons has been been publishing. Though not without criticism from those who seem to think it’s their assignment to police Christendom for such works as the Passion Translation. Well anyway it doesn’t change my love for this refreshing look at the scriptures. It has renewed a HOLY SPIRIT driven desire to go deeper and just listen to quietly and soak in the presence of GOD’S word. Look at the poetic beauty as King David praises God in Psalm 24:7-10…… You can sing this in a new song! Sing out in the Spirit! Dance like David! Because it will always offend the spirit of accusation of the religious, but GOD just smiles in the pleasure at his sons and daughters knowing their identity. Yes and amen! : )>
PSALM 24:7-10 (TPT)
So wake up, you heavenly gateways!
Lift up your heads, you ageless doors of destiny!
Welcome the KING OF GLORY,
for he is about to come through you.
You ask, “Who is this GLORY-KING?”
The LORD armed and ready for battle,
the MIGHTY ONE invincible in every way!
So wake up, you living gateways, and rejoice!
Fling wide, you ageless doors of destiny!
Here he come; the KING OF GLORY is ready to come in.
You ask, “Who is this KING OF GLORY?”
He’s the LORD OF VICTORY, armed and ready for battle,
the MIGHTY ONE, invincible COMMANDER of heaven’s host!
Yes, he is the KING OF GLORY!
As members of one body you are all called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:15
To fulfill the Great Commission , I suggest the following focal points for agreement in prayer and fasting:
- Unity according to John 17
- Global outpouring of the HOLY SPIRIT
- Pray/Fast for family and friends by name
- Laborers for the harvest
- Unreached people groups
- Fullness of Israel
