I HAVE Seen the needle and the damage done

Early one morning while I was praying in the Spirit which is often my practice daily and out of no where the words to a song came to mind. The words were this “ I Have Seen the Needle and the Damage Done” a song  penned by Neil Young in the early 1970’s. So I asked God if this was him and what was the reason? And the answer was a clear yes and he said the “needle” was religion and you have seen and felt the damage done by religion. So I sat in quiet pondering the revelation God had just given and what he had revealed, it was an aha moment where I realized I’d gone through the valley and come out the other side stronger.

It wasn’t always this way and once upon a time I had held to the more conservative views of a certain denomination. But as time went on as I studied out scripture Holy Spirit began showing inconsistencies to what was taught and what scriptures actually say. The problem was when you started asking questions about things taught the ugly side of religion would rise up quickly and try to extinguish the fire burning within believer who wanted more than a powerless and controlling faith.

Over time I began to ask Holy Spirit for the correct interpretation on such issues like prophesy, tongues, five fold ministry, etc; And as one might expect it was very much different then what I had been taught and held to over many years. But as I continued to study scripture and pray the inevitable would happen at special meeting my wife and I attended. As it was a powerful evening of worship and as the evangelist preached he asked anyone who wanted prayer to come forward to which we both did. During prayer we both continued sense a heavy presence of God in the room with oil showing up on my wife’s hands with an unusual aroma wafting in the air. As I was in prayer and soaking in the presence it suddenly happened someone who was assisting and praying over people came by and just blew a short burst of air at me. At which point a sudden bright flash of very white light and I lost all sense of surroundings and ended up on the floor next to my wife. This lasted over 30 minutes where I couldn’t get up and actually hadn’t really realized the Holy Spirit had just powerfully came over my wife and I. This was a book of Acts occurrence for sure and we cherish the night fondly.

This was start of many manifestations to come over the years, but what happened at times were the old religious doubts would creep in and try to cast doubt about what Holy Spirit had been doing and showing.  So God was reminding me during the early morning hours of the day about the “needle” of  religion trying to control me like heroin controls an addict and over time the addict incurs physical damage to their body. The same is true of religion it causes spiritual harm that only the great physician Jesus can heal. The scriptures speak of this in the New Testament gospel of Mark chapter 8:15 Jesus states; “ Be on your guard against the yeast inside the Pharisees.”

Okay what was Jesus saying? It was quite simple actually he was warning them and us today about the dangers of religious hypocrisy and control. And like yeast or leaven it only takes a little to effect the entire lump of dough. So like dough a group people, church or entire denomination can come under the influence of religious works and false humility which is really nothing more than pride. It’s a sneaky covert spirit of religion when it goes unchecked will and cause damage to unsuspecting believer.

So what God was showing me was beware of the “needle of religion” and the “damage of leaven” and to move on from the past of religion and embrace relationship with Jesus. As you pray and read scripture ask Holy Spirit to help you to understand and most importantly to release forgiveness over the past pain caused by the spirit of religion.

Blessings to all who may read this and may you find true freedom in Christ starting today.

SACRED Living Sacrifice

As we are now almost half way through January 2020 with so much being said inside and outside the Christendom what the new decade will bring. It can bring so many emotions from excitement to fear and it’s so easy to be overwhelmed with the obvious problems and issues going on, be it politically, natural disasters, wars, etc; We live in a world that’s drowning in information that is at times simply too much, especially with explosion of handheld devices that give us info 24/7 and keep us connected no matter where we are.
So where does that leave us who claim Christ? Do we always dwell on the negative and never see the positive?
I would propose that is exactly one of the tactics of Satan to get well meaning Christians to dwell on all bad things happening which then causes them to take their eye off the prize. Once we become distracted, then we become powerless to do the Kingdom work.

The Apostle Paul gave us a wonderful charge in Romans 12:1,2 that I would like to share from the Passion Translation Bible:

“Beloved friends, what would be our response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart.  For this becomes your genuine expression of worship. Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit  through a total reformation of how you think. This will power you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.”

Pray and declare this verse today !

Blessings !

Does god still speak?

Yes….But how does He speak to us in these crazy days? Growing up in the King James toting conservative, fundamental Baptist world they would have you believe that God no longer speaks to us as in the first century church. And when anyone even dared to question them on the offices mentioned Ephesians 4:11 or better yet brought up the Spiritual gifts of tongues or prophesy mentioned in the book of 1 Corinthians 12 it would quickly set in motion a tirade of all types of remarks and furled eye brows. To which you would get the very typical barrage of indoctrinated Bible verses such as 1 Corinthians 14:33 that God is not author of confusion and often in a very condescending tone of voice. As to say how dare you?

But now years later I have come realize it’s just not that easy to write off strange occurrences in scripture that obviously caused a great deal of confusion. The Acts 2 day of Pentecost is the most obvious in the New Testament, but scripture is packed full of gems from Old Testament too with a prophet walking around butt naked, or another prophet cooking food over excrement whilst laying on his side for months at a time, or another prophet marrying a harlot. All these were directed by God for a reason of warning, but at the time did they Hebrew people scratch their heads in confused manner? We now have the privilege of scriptures to give understanding and direction. So I would argue the 1 Corinthians 14:33 passage has often been used out of context in a universal manner when Paul was addressing issues specifically to a Greek culture church not the entire early New Testament church. Please don’t quote the passage in 2 Timothy 3:16 about all scripture is given…. Another favorite of the Fundie crowd : )>

So back to the question does God still speak today? He most certainly does ! And with the new year quickly approaching I will definitely be expecting an increase in hearing God speaking through signs, dreams, and wonders to the entire church. Will you be waiting, watching and listening? Keep your spiritual eyes and ears open. As in Revelation 3:20 “Behold I stand at the door and knock” ….Will you hear him knocking?

Mary’s Prophetic Song

And Mary sang this song:

“My soul is ecstatic, overflowing with with praises to God!

My spirit bursts with joy over my life-giving God!

For he set his tender gaze upon me, his lowly servant girl.

And from here on, everyone will know that I have been favored and blessed .

The Mighty One has worked a mighty miracle for me;

holy is his name!

Mercy kisses all his godly lovers,

from one generation to the next.

Mighty power flows from him to scatter all those who walk in pride.

Powerful princes he tears from their thrones and lifts up the lowly to take their place.

Those who hunger for him will always be filled, but the smug and self-satisfied he will send away empty.

Because he can never to forget show mercy, he has helped his chosen servant, Israel,

Keeping his promises to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

Luke 1:46-55 TPT

Yet This You Have

In the New Year’s  post I wrote about the Jesus’ promises in John 14 and how often we miss the dunamis power because we do not realize or yet worse possibly refuse to recognize the the power given to us as blood bought Christ followers.  Today I want to look at look at a term the Apostle John used in the book called the Revelation of Jesus Christ or some call the Unveiling Jesus Christ.

Lets start with John quoting Jesus in the vision to the church at Ephesus:

” Yet this you have: you hate the works of Nicolaitans, which I also hate.”  Revelation 2:6 ESV

There has been much theological  debate and discussion through church history about what and who the Nicolaitans were and what they represented.  Now I come from an engineering background and the one thing that you learn early on is something called the “KISS” principle which is the acronym for ” Keep it Simple Stupid”.  So what is my point? In the study of God’s word we can make things overly difficult to grasp and understand. The above name is one of those that theologians have made overly difficult and frankly I think we have missed the mark to what Jesus was warning about to the church of Ephesus in Revelation.

So lets look at Nicolaitans and what that name actually means in definition form. It is apparent in verse 6 that Jesus hated the works of Nicolaitians and that we know and agree it was a false teaching.  But I want look at what the actual name means in its root form and    in  Notes on the Bible  from Cyrus Scofield  he suggests  that Nicolaitans ” refers to the earliest form of the notion of a priestly order, or ‘clergy’, which later divided an equal brotherhood into ‘priests’ and ‘laity.'”[15]

With all the discussion on what the heresy might have been we can  miss the point about the Nicolaitans.  There where two  groups that were formed clergy(priests) and a laity (lay people). Was this wrong to do?  Yes or No?  Since most of todays 21st century church have some type of hierarchal leadership model and in Acts there were roles of leadership within in the 1st century church given. I would say you need a structure of accountability to sustain a vibrant church.

But what if this clergy/priests and laity roles become abused or misused in a way that does not honor what Jesus had laid out to the apostles for the early church?  Such as clergy becoming so powerful within the church that it decides what is theologically correct and not correct. And forgets it’s servant role and making a second tier or lower class in the church of the laity/lay people.  The decisions may include adding in traditions, false teachings and superstitions of man to the church.  We get have gotten so hung up on what the heresies might have been that we as a global church have missed the simple part of what Jesus hated.

Finally read Matthew 24:31-46 ( * you can read in your study) is a very sobering account from Jesus on judgement and honestly very scary.  Remember who his audience is when he gives this warning. The religious elite of his day! Back to Revelation 2:6 I believe that the name or term Nicolaitan is referring an elite religious order that strayed into heresy over time and forgot there first love. We don’t always need to have endless debate on what the apostasy was but more importantly what allowed the apostasy to gain momentum to begin with.

Greater Works Than These

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.”  John 14:12 ESV

So today I am pondering why we the “Church” do not claim this promise as given?  This declaration was not for only the original 12 disciples as many claim that hold to a cessation view of the gifts. First note it says “whoever”  which indicates  anyone who is a true believer.  Then in the next verses:

“Whatever you ask in my name , this I will do,  that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name , I will do it.” John 14: 13-14 ESV

Did you catch this ?  The use of ” whatever”   and ” glorify the Father” are key.  Jesus will do  what we ask so that His Father may be glorified. In other words simply put if we ask in faith for something that will glorify the Father, Jesus will do it!  Then Jesus moves on to the following declaration:

“If you love me , you will keep my commandments.”  John 14:15 ESV

If we truly love Him we will want keep His  commandments!  In this day of me first and instant gratification this sadly is often not true within the western church. We have made ourselves idols and put God in the background.  And then we wonder why we have do not have or display the dunamis power of the gifts.  It is now 2018 and I am believing for more of the dunamis power and declaring this promise from Jesus:

” And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.”  John 14:16 ESV

This is a promise that so many in the present 21st century church simply do not grasp and sometimes will even try to explain away with very fancy theological terms and debates. But you can’t!! Look at what Jesus said:

” In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.”  John 14:20 ESV

One word “Wow!”  Do you hear what Jesus is saying?  We are in Him and He in us. We are a container for the Holy Spirit!  Then look at the following  words Jesus spoke:

” But the Helper, the HOLY SPIRIT. whom the Father will send in my name , he will teach you all things and bring to remembrance all that I have said.” John 14:26 ESV

Do we realize what we have as a blood bought Christ follower?  We have God living in us and all that we need to know will be given by Holy Spirit.  It doesn’t say go get a BS, MS and etc;  at some well known school for religion. No! It states he (Holy Spirit) will teach you all things. (vs.26)  Now I am not against seminary or other types of higher learning of scriptures, but remember those who completely missed the the first coming of Jesus!  So back to the main point of this blog post today.  In this new year of 2018 I believe will be breakthrough year for those who will claim verse 12: ( from the TPT)

” I tell you a this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do — even greater miracles than these because I go to be with my Father! John 14:12  TPT

We declare and bind this promise from Jesus today in His precious blood . So today put self away and honestly ask Holy Spirit to reveal truths to you. Then get ready for somethings you may not be in your plan! But if you listen and obey Holy Spirit the dunamis power will begin to unfold in your walk with Him.  The interesting thing that happens the  more you feed yourself with Holy Spirit the hungrier you will get for Holy Spirit revealing the mysteries of Christ.  So today lets seek together Holy Spirit’s wisdom and then move on what He reveals.  Yes and Amen.
